1. Light candles
I haven’t developed a routine of getting candles everywhere in the house and light them whenever I feel like. I often don’t even realize I have some but in winter, it’s just the time when I can’t miss it and I actually like to have them burning in my room.
Nothing beats baking around holidays season. My family knows what time it is when I start to tour the kitchen more often. I have a few favourite recipes but gingerbread cookies have been constantly on the menu recently. Anything cinnamon and honey is welcome in this time of the year.
3. Drink plenty of hot drinks
Even if it’s time to turn away from ice latte, ice tea or ice cream, I am happy to warm myself with a cup of hot tea or hot chocolate. I have yet to find my favourite hot chocolate flavor- I’m sure it’s out there somewhere.
4. Go ice skating
Last Saturday Ljubljana opened the largest ice skating rink so far. I am tempted to do the late night skating when there is not so many visitors. Ice skating in the night under the Christmas lights… sounds quite romantic, right?
5. See the Christmas market and lights
This one is a typical thing to do in December. Mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and other goods are only some of the reasons to visit Christmas markets. This is the only time I know I can’t avoid large crowd but the sights are totally worth it.
What are you most excited for this winter?
Have a great week!
